12 Ways- Day 7 Listen

I am excited to share with you ideas, activities and inspirations for "Listen". When I first thought of this the song "Do You Hear What I Hear" came to mind. What a great song about listening at Christmas time. As I thought more, I thought that we have been given the best gift of all if we just listen--the gift of the Holy Ghost. These activities have to do with that gift. There is a wonderful FHE evening lesson from Deseret Book on the gifts of the Spirit including Listen. Enjoy. Have a very Merry Christmas and I pray that we can always remember Him.

All papers and elements came from the wonderful Summer Driggs in her kit Believe.

12 Days of Christmas-Instructions

My mother-in-law introduced me to a new way to do the 12 days of Christmas when I got married. It was their tradition to give a nativity set one piece at a time over the period of the 12 days. I loved the idea and have done it every Christmas since. We pick a new neighbor each year.

You can get 12-piece nativities at Wal-Mart for about $10 or Walgreens for about $5. Because I do this each year, I purchase them after Christmas on sale for the next year. Here's the one for this year.
You can do it one of two ways:

1) Wrap each present, label it with a number 1-12, and deliver all at once with instructions to unwrap one each night.

2) Deliver a basket along with the first piece with instructions to leave the basket out each night. Then deliver one a night for 12 nights.

We like to do the first option. If you start on December 13th, they unwrap the last one on Christmas Eve. If you start on December 14th they unwrap the last one on Christmas Day. We like to save the Baby Jesus for the last present.

Soooo...... I created handouts to go with each piece. Because each nativity set is different, I am going try to cover all the pieces. Sometimes there are more than one animal, so I am making more than one handout for the animals. Same with the shepherds. Just pick the one you like best. If I leave one out, let me know. Here is the set of instructions for unwrapping gifts: (Click on the picture to download)

Here is the set of instructions to leave the basket out: (Click on the picture to download)

Enjoy! I will be posting the rest when I finish them.
